SYNCHRONICITY

For every
warning I hear about the Machiavellian strategies required for an art
career, I have an equaling compelling story of generosity. Joseph
Campbell, the great mythologist, calls these the lucky breaks the
thousand unseen helping hands that appear when we follow our bliss. My
body of work would not exist without these helping hands. Strangers and
casual acquaintances have freely offered their time and technical
expertise, material and emotional support. One connection leads to the
next until the needs seem to be met magically. Carl Jung wrote about
this responsive creative force in his paper on synchronicity. It is a
real and tangible phenomenon that forms the subtle strings that connect
us all.
As
